And the day began

The annual Presidents dinner took place on the evening of June 23rd hosted by Stephanie and Gary Klawender with about forty members and spouses in attendance. The fantastic feast was arranged by PP Steve and Barbara Gergely who deserve accolades for a wonderful event.

The program for the evening included a welcome by PP Steve Gergley. The invocation was given by John Hansen.

A scrumptious dinner buffet dinner was then descended upon and thoroughly enjoyed by the attendees. Special attendance awards were given by our own perfect attendee Jim Brady.  Steve Feinman introduced the Charter Members of the club in attendance.  Caryl Burke then summed up the achievements during her successful year as club president including presenting the incoming president with a ream of copy paper (should have been a case).

Caryl's remarks were followed by Rotary officer pin presentations. Steve Gergley presented Caryl with her past President’s pin.  Caryl presented Steve Feinman with the Presidents pin.  In a small innovation Steve Feinman President Fred Schmid with a president elect pin as well as a 24 hour pager (which Fred lost quickly).  Steve outlined his goals for the RY 11 and 12 (the remarks are posted on the club website news link).  We concluded the formalities with the Four Way test the Steve’s first official presidential bell ring.  The formalities concluded fellowship, conviviality and good times continued through the evening.

It is interesting to note that precedence has been set for incoming club presidents named Steve.

A horrendous stormy day preceded the transition to Steve Greely’s year which was hosted by Stephanie and Gary Klawender. There was some question whether the event could be held with the heavy downpours, road flooding and electrical outages during the day.  The weather had just cleared as out intrepid membership gathered, and the festivities were form inside the Klawender house to the back portico.    This year another Steve, another stormy day. Moderate to have rains moved in the morning and continued sporadically during the day.  But once again, nature was on or side the weather cleared allowing for a dry evening for festivities and food.
